Now stocking original watercolour paintings by Lois Brown

ArtHive.com.au now stocks a selection of beautiful watercolours hand painted by renowned artist Lois Brown in her gippsland studio.

Lois began her art experience while growing up in the gippsland area of Victoria.  As an art student at the Ballarat Institute of Advanced Education and Melbourne State College she developed an interest in print making - etching and screen printing in particular.

Lois obtained a Higher Diploma of Teaching Art and Craft in 1975 and was employed by the Victorian Education Department for 18 years teaching Secondary Art and Craft.  In 1983 Lois was introduced to watercolours and in 1994 became a full time painter concentrating on her watercolours and teaching art workshops.

Currently Lois is living in Drouin, Victoria and the richness of the subject materials comes from the unique Gippsland environment, particularly the unspoilt countryside and coastal areas.  Her use of colour is ingenious, whether to suggest distance in the landscape or reflected light on a flower.  Lois uses traditional and experimental techniques in watercolour to capture changing moods in nature or studies of Australian Flora and Fauna.
